About Me

finding a love of extreme sports at any age

One of the hardest things about being a mother is constantly worrying that something is going to happen to your kids. When my boy was little, he was always more adventurous and courageous than I liked and as he grew, so did his love for thrills. At the age of 16, I could barely stand to watch him do some of the stunts that he was doing, but I loved watching him succeed with what he loved doing. When he turned 21, he took me on a trip filled with trials of different extreme sports and I had the time of my life. You are never too old to start exploring and experiencing extreme sports. Three Things You Need To Know When You Are Contemplating Going On A Skydiving Adventure

Skydiving is one of those things that people put on their dream bucket list because the activity is considered a daredevil endeavor that will provide you with an unmatched adrenaline rush. If you are considering signing up for a skydiving jump, you probably have a plethora of concerns about documenting your adventure, required attire, and rules that may prevent you from jumping. The following guide can provide you with some answers to your concerns.

Can You Film the Jump or Take Photos?

Many skydiving companies provide videotaping and photography of the jump for students. The United States Parachute Association (USPA) has extensive rules regarding usage of camera equipment during jumps. Licensed skydivers must complete hundreds of jumps before they can film students while in the air.

If you have your heart set on getting footage of your skydive, just make sure you choose an instructor that is authorized to film students during jumps.

Is Special Attire Required?

You do not need to purchase any special clothing in order to go skydiving. You probably have everything you need in your closet already.

The first rule of thumb is to wear comfortable clothes. You can wear a short sleeve or long sleeve shirt. Just make sure that they do not have hoods or collars. You do not want to wear anything that may obstruct your view. In warm weather you can wear shorts. Comfortable pants that are not too loose are also good.

For footwear, standard athletic shoes are fine. You do not want to wear open-toed sandals, five-toe shoes or flip flops. If you have long hair, make sure that you tie it back. If you wear glasses, you do not have to worry because you will be wearing goggles that can fit over glasses.

Are There Any Age and Health Restrictions?

Generally, skydiving schools require students to be at least 18 years old in order to go on a jump. When you go for your jump, bring a photo ID so instructors can verify your age. You will probably also have to sign a waiver of liability before you jump.

When it comes to skydiving, you should be in good physical condition. Your skydiving instructor can inform you if there are any specific weight limits for solo training and tandem jumps. If you are taking any type of medication or recently suffered a health problem, be sure to talk to your doctor before you sign up for a jump.

Since licensed skydiving instructors are highly trained professionals, you can put any fears you have aside as you prepare to cross an item off your bucket list and take part in an activity that most people will never experience. For more information, contact companies like Midwest Freefall.
